LOVE

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:27

He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.

Ephesians 1:5-6

Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.

Isaiah 1:17

Waiting Children

Sweet Amy

Our family sponsors Amy through a foster home in China called New Day! Our girls chose Amy because her birthday is the day after our Anna and she is the same age! Sweet Amy was in an orphanage before coming to New Day a year ago! In this short time I can see her blooming in an environment where she is taught, loved on and given therapies and a chance to be a child! I can only imagine if she was given this chance in a forever family how much more she would have the chance to truly SHINE!
Her foster nannies say she asks when she will have a mama and baba of her own when she watches her other friends go to their families. She is old enough to know there is love out there waiting to give her a new life!
Amy is learning more and more English. When she came to New Day she could not even crawl, as her legs do not work and so she was left in once place. There is no chance of therapies in her orphanage, therefore she wasn't given the chance to strengthen her legs. She is now crawling! Which, I am no doctor, but I would say she has a good chance at one day being able to walk! In every picture I see of Amy her smile gets brighter and brighter!
The thing about foster homes, is they are not a guarantee. I had someone ask me if they are in their environment and thriving why would you want to take them away from all of that! It is a fair question. Besides the fact that the love of a forever mom and dad cannot be replaced by the love of a nanny, a child is not promised to a foster home forever. I have seen many orphanages decide for one reason or another to pull the child back into the orphanage. All of that change is HARD on a child! Going from a broken orphanage, to a caring foster home back to the broken! Foster homes also are not forever. A child ages out at 14. While the nannies will come to love these children, they aren't parents set up to raise a child, and with the ones who are a foster mom and dad their are many rules on Chinese and how many children they are allowed to have. Leaving a very uncertain future! The best chance these children have is a mom and dad is through adoption. A family of their own!
