LOVE

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:27

He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.

Ephesians 1:5-6

Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.

Isaiah 1:17

Gotcha Day

So I barely slept much at all this night! not very surprising given what was going on the next day, but the men next door were celebrating for us as well...thank you for that.
We made our way down to the yummy breakfast buffet and I made myself eat as much as I thought my stomach of nerves could handle and then went to the lobby to meet our guide.
We drove to the orphanage and walked into the lobby of the building where we waited for what seemed like forever!Tony was telling us so many facts about Yinchuan and the orphanage but one sad fact that stood out was that there are only about 10 adoptions a year from there! And we found out later that only 5 this year! And what are the odds but I know 3 of them! Sophia from the day before came to greet us and walked us down to a conference room. It seems like from all the gotcha days I've heard, everyone meets their kids in different ways so I had no idea if he was waiting there already, if they were going to bring him in or if this was just a place to sign papers then we'd go somewhere else. Tony had us sit and told us we were going to sign papers first. I'm not kidding I couldn't think strait! They must have thought I was nuts because I kept signing my maiden name! We have been married for almost ten years! AHH! Any how, we had finished up the papers and just then the doors opened and our little Jun Jun came in! It was CRAZY! Seeing in flesh the little man we had prayed about for so long was real! They had just then shoved another paper in my hands so they handed him to Josh and he went right to him. It was sad though because you could see the lost look in his eyes. A look that was as if he had learned to shut down when being passed off. As if he knew he had no choice in the matter, so why fight it. He didn't cry, didn't fight, he just looked like he was being brave. After my paperwork was finally finished Josh handed him to me and it was the same look. As if he was looking past all of us.
The orphanage gave us a little gift the older kids in the orphanage made for us, and a huge stuffed monkey the size of Isac (that will be fun to get on the plane!) and Isac's foster mom loaded us up on drinks and snacks that he loves! She also gave us a gift of silver bracelets, one for Isac and one for Nina!!! Such a sweet woman!
After all of that we went back to the lobby and met all of the girls who work at the orphanage and took lots of pictures! LOTS!! They gave us so much stuff! Aside from the clothes Isac had on 3 layers of clothes, he had on brand new shoes (which were 2 shoe sizes too big) and a jacket and a vest jacket! I HAVE NEVER HEARD of families getting this much!
So we left the orphanage with our sweet Isac "Jun Jun". An orphan no more.
From there we had to go to about six more stops. Isac was so good! For having such a long and hard day and 2 very short naps he was still smiling and having a great time!
He is curious and mimics EVERYTHING we say or do! If we hum, he starts humming, if we laugh it makes him laugh harder, if we dance he is dancing away! He looooves his HA HA (milk, or as we later found out yogurt for kids) and if he sees food he gets VERY excited! So much so that food has to be hidden or he thinks he needs to eat it NOW! They say kids from orphanages often want food now and hoard it because they are so used to it being taken, but in Isac's case I think he was a bit spoiled by his foster mom. He loooves baths! But not if it means getting water in his face or ears! He can go on the potty and I think he actually prefers it since he cries whenever he needs to go. But he has a diaper on because he isn't quit there yet. He is a TINY little guy! He is in 12-18 mths clothes and size 3 diapers! Levi can fit in some 3t shirts and wears a size 5 diaper! He is on the go most of the time, but some times he would ask for his pack and play and just play with the stacking cups. I think some of it may be his way of unwinding from all of the events of the day. He is already calling us MA and BA which is surpising. MA is short of Mama and BA is short for Baba. And he doesn't seem to have a favorite as of right now he goes to both of quit easily. He knows a lot of Mandrin which makes me sad I don't know more. It will be a slow and steady pace to understand each
other for sure!
I look at this sweet boy and my heart is so sad for his mama. I don't know what her reason were for leaving her sweet boy on the side of the road, but she is missing out on an amazing boy!

  1. This brings so much joy to my heart!! But Sadness for Isac with what you described in his eyes. I pray for the day that he cries when he doesn't want to go to someone other than his Ma and Ba!!
